CALF IMPLANTS

The surgeries of the implant of silicon prosthesis in the calf and thigh had their beginning in Brazil in the 70s, initially to correct defects caused by infantile paralysis. Now it is one of the most sought plastic surgeries for those who have thin and tortuous legs, or for people that have a space between the legs, situations that are impossible to correct with exercises or muscular activity.
When one talks about surgery of silicon implant in inferior members, 3 types may be mentioned: buttocks, thigh and calf. Of these, the thigh is the most recent and sought.
In the calf surgery, the implants used is textured, filled out with silicon gel. It has been improved with time; it is now small and very resistant. The risk of rupture is almost nonexistent and may last a lifetime. There is no rejection risk, nor risk of provoking varicose veins or circulatory problems.
The surgery is quite simple; there is an incision of 2 cm. in the posterior part of the knee which becomes unapparent later. The anesthesia usually used is epidural or spinal; the patient may leave the hospital on the same day. The recovery is fast, having the need of relative rest for 3 days. The definitive result will be obtained after 3 months; postoperative complications are rare. The use of compressive garments is recommended in the postoperative not to force the calf.
The final result is excellent, the prosthesis is unapparent and the leg has a very natural aspect, allowing you to use short clothes and exhibit a new silhouette, with beautiful and well shaped legs.
